Gaelscoil na Mí is situated in the very heart of Ashbourne Education Campus and is only a few minutes walk, scoot or cycle from the town centre. We neighbour Donaghmore-Ashbourne GAA club and Johnswood/Milbourne estates.

We love our large, spacious green areas and yard spaces within our school grounds and over the years we have added an obstacle course, garden boxes, a polytunnel, outside learning space, reading benches, football goals and rebounders.

Our classes enjoy using our outdoor toys during free play time and as part sports lessons. We have achieved all five levels of Meath County Council’s Pride of Place awards and are currently working on our fifth Green Flag!

Sensory Area

In our school building, there are sixteen classrooms catering for both mainstream and autism classes. We also have three special education rooms, a purpose-built library and canteen facilities in addition to the secretary’s office and principal’s office.

Parents and staff have fundraised in the last few years for a dedicated sensory area and sensory walkway to add to our facilities. Pupils enjoy drama lessons, ukelele and percussion classes, dance classes and performances, sports sessions and swimming lessons.

2022-23 has seen the formation of our first nurture group, An Nead, and our first partnership with the Teacher Artist Partnership (TAP) programme. We participate in Cumann na mbunscol, local rugby competitions, ESB Science Blast, Credit Union quiz, Credit Union Art competition, Texaco art competition, local school debates, Seachtain na Gaeilge, INTO handwriting competition, FAI Soccer competitions, Scríobh Leabhar projects, Safe Routes to School campaign, Road Safety campaigns, Shoe Box appeals, School Marathon relay and local athletics competitions to name but a few!

Celebrating pupils’ achievements is at the heart of our school. At our weekly assembly we present pupils with a Balún Glas (Green Balloon) for Gaeilge and Balún Corcra (Purple Balloon) on birthdays. Obair na Seachtaine is selected from two classes and focuses on a particular area of the curriculum / new learning each week.
